MediaVault Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

The short version

MediaVault does not collect, see, or transmit any personal information or media libraries to its developer or to anyone else. A user's catalog — their files, tags, notes, and projects — lives on their own Mac, and nowhere else. MediaVault has no server, no account system, and no way to access a user's library. That is the whole policy, in practice. The rest of this page explains it in a bit more detail.

What MediaVault stores, and where

MediaVault keeps a catalog of a user's media files — things like file locations, tags, ratings, notes, and project organization — in a database stored directly on the user's Mac, at a location entirely under the user's own control (inside the user's Library folder). This information never leaves the user's computer.

MediaVault does not upload files, thumbnails, metadata, or catalog contents to its developer, to any server, or to any third party. There is no server. MediaVault's developer never sees a user's library, file names, tags, or anything else in their catalog.

Analytics, tracking, and advertising

MediaVault does not include analytics tools, crash-reporting services, advertising identifiers, or any form of usage tracking. Activity within the app is not monitored, logged, or reported to MediaVault's developer in any form.

Third parties

MediaVault does not share, sell, or transmit any information to third parties, because it does not collect any information to begin with. There are no third parties involved: no analytics provider, no cloud service, no outside component of any kind. MediaVault does not connect to the internet.

Children's privacy

MediaVault is a media cataloging tool intended for general use and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of MediaVault adds a genuinely new feature that touches data in a new way — this page will be updated, and the "Last updated" date at the top will reflect that change.
